Saddle Creek Adds New Management Team Members
Lakeland, Fla., Dec 6, 2006 — Saddle Creek Corp., a third-party logistics services company, announced that it is expanding its management teams in Atlanta and Lakeland, Fla., to help drive business growth and uphold the company’s reputation for service excellence. The company provides warehousing, transportation, contract packaging and integrated logistics services through its campuses nationwide.
At Saddle Creek’s Atlanta campus, Robert Pericht has been named senior vice president of warehouse operations reporting to Cliff Otto, executive vice president. Initially, Pericht will manage the company’s business with Quaker Oats as well as the Eagle campus. Pericht comes to Saddle Creek from Kuehne & Nagel (formerly USCO), where he served most recently as vice president of logistics management with global account management responsibilities. In his 17-year career there, Pericht also was responsible for the company’s public operations in Kansas City and one of its IBM operations in Chicago. Prior to joining Kuehne & Nagel, Pericht spent eight years in various warehouse management positions with Certified Grocers in Chicago. He holds a degree from Governor’s State University in Chicago.
Pericht will be joined in Atlanta by Doug Johnston, new vice president and general manager of the company’s Eagle campus in Atlanta. Johnston has more than 15 years of warehouse operations and account management experience. Johnston started his career with Frito-Lay in Louisville, Ky., where he held supervisory and material services management positions. He spent the past 11 years in Atlanta with Exel Inc. where he held a number of management positions. Johnston graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor’s degree in industrial management.
“We’re delighted to add two individuals with such valuable industry experience to our team,” said Bruce Abels, president of Saddle Creek Corp. “As their past successes have shown, they recognize and share our commitment to service excellence. They’re well prepared to help us deliver on our company promise to get the job done for our customers – whatever it takes.”
In Lakeland, Fla., Tom Patterson has been promoted to senior vice president, warehouse operations also reporting to Otto. Patterson has been part of the Saddle Creek team since he first joined the company as director of operations support nearly 10 years ago. More recently, he has served as vice president and general manager for Saddle Creek’s Lakeland location and has been instrumental in managing the substantial growth in the Florida market over the past five years. Previously, he held management positions at Sterling Logistics and USCO. He holds a degree from Kansas State University.
Butch Riggleman has been promoted to vice president, general manager, of the Lakeland campus warehouse operations. During the transition period, he will retain responsibility for other locations outside of Lakeland. Riggleman has been with Saddle Creek more than four years. He began as director of operations support in 2002 and was promoted to general manager of The Home Depot business unit in 2004. Since then, he has assumed responsibility for Saddle Creek’s Minute Maid and Anheuser Busch business units as well as the Macon location. Prior to joining Saddle Creek, he served as the managing director, Florida region, for FedEx Ground. He has a bachelor’s degree from York College in Pennsylvania.
“Tom and Butch have shown that they are truly dedicated to helping our customers gain a competitive edge,” said Abels. ”We want to recognize their service to Saddle Creek and give them the opportunity to make an impact on an even greater scale.”
“It’s exciting to see Saddle Creek’s dynamic growth over the past few years, and there’s more to come,” said Abels. “With these management moves, we have the organizational horsepower necessary to continue to drive growth, improve performance and deliver Saddle Creek’s trademark 3rd Party 1st Class solutions to our customers.”
