Saddle Creek To Manage Logistics and Transportation for Nichiha

Lakeland, Fla., July 31, 2007 —Saddle Creek Corp., a third-party logistics services company, has been selected by Nichiha USA Inc. to manage warehousing, distribution and transportation requirements for its new $100-million-dollar manufacturing facility currently under construction in Macon, Ga. Although parent company Nichiha Corporation has 11 manufacturing sites throughout Japan and two in China, the new facility, located in Macon’s South Industrial Park, is its first venture into the United States.

“The opportunity to assist a very successful multinational company, like Nichiha, in executing its logistics and distribution strategy is exciting, challenging and in perfect alignment with Saddle Creek’s growth model,” said Doug Johnston, Saddle Creek’s vice president of operations.  “We know that Nichiha’s product line has been well received in every new market they have entered, and we are confident that the company’s U.S. operations will grow and prosper. Saddle Creek and Nichiha share a strong focus on providing excellent customer service, and we look forward to moving into the future together.”

Nichiha’s new facility, which is situated on nearly 60 acres of land, is expected to employ approximately 100 people.  The manufacturing plant is 300,000 square feet and will produce more than 100,000,000 square feet of fiber cement products for the building industry. The plant is scheduled to begin production early in the fourth quarter. The products will be stored in a 100,000-square-foot warehouse where Saddle Creek’s expertise in storage and handling will be realized.

“The building of this plant falls in line with our corporate strategy to begin domestic production of our products,” said Katsunori (Tiger) Takamitsu, president of Nichiha USA. (The company has been selling fiber cement products in the United States since 1998.)  “After studying a variety of locations across the United States,” said Takamitsu, “we felt that the Macon site best met our logistical and production requirements.

“Managing the delivery of raw materials and shipment of finished products is a major component of our ability to be profitable,” said Takamitsu. “When evaluating third party logistic companies, we looked for an organization that met our corporate commitment to quality, efficiency and service excellence and that is where Saddle Creek stood out.”

“We’re glad to be a part of Nichiha’s first U.S. manufacturing facility,” said Cliff Otto, president of Saddle Creek Corp. “We’re confident that we can provide Nichiha with the creative, integrated logistics solutions necessary to help them capitalize on this new business venture.”
