Saddle Creek Adds Transportation Division
Lakeland, Fla., Dec 19, 2006 — Streamlining the supply chain just got easier for Saddle Creek customers. They can now find additional inbound and outbound capacity for shipments through Saddle Creek Transportation Services, a newly formed division of Saddle Creek Transportation, Inc. Saddle Creek Transportation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Saddle Creek Corp., a nationwide provider of warehousing, transportation, packaging, and integrated logistics services.
Historically, Saddle Creek Transportation has provided asset-based fleet services to its customers. The new division, which is non-asset based, will allow customers to handle all their logistics needs through a single source. Using this non-asset-based approach, coupled with its Saddle Creek assets when appropriate, gives Saddle Creek maximum flexibility in managing the freight transportation for its customers.
“We found that our customers often had special projects or business surges that required transportation capabilities beyond our traditional scope,” said Mike DelBovo, senior vice president of Saddle Creek Transportation. “With Saddle Creek Transportation Services, we’ll be able to help them find additional capacity while increasing efficiency and controlling costs.” The division has the added benefit of allowing Saddle Creek to develop new business opportunities with customers looking to optimize their traffic patterns and overall transportation management.
Saddle Creek Transportation Services will offer a full range of transportation services nationwide, including truckload, LTL, flatbed, and consolidation services.
“We pride ourselves on providing a range of services that allow our customers to gain a competitive edge,” said Bruce Abels, president of Saddle Creek Corp. “Our customers know that we will do ‘whatever it takes’ to meet their needs. In this case, that means expanding our capabilities, so they can get the turnkey solutions they’re looking for from a single partner.”
With the creation of the new division, Saddle Creek has added two new members to its management team: John Hahn as manager of operations and John Lubrecht as director of business development for logistics.
Hahn will be charged with building the business, maximizing fleet productivity and upholding Saddle Creek’s trademark service levels. Hahn has more than 10 years of experience in intermodal and linehaul truckload management. Most recently, he served as logistics manager at Sunco Carriers, Inc. He has also held management positions at Morgan Southern, Inc.
Lubrecht will oversee the development of new customer relationships and maintain organic growth within existing accounts. Prior to joining Saddle Creek, he served as vice president of national accounts at Smithway Motor Xpress. He has also held managerial positions at Schneider National, Dart Transit, and Roehl Transport.
“We’re fortunate to have these two individuals joining together to share their focus, strategic thinking and creative ideas with our customers,” said DelBovo. “They are clearly committed to our corporate mission of providing 3rd Party 1st Class solutions and services. With that commitment, and the resources of Saddle Creek, we’re going to give our customers incredible value.”
