MindShare Strategies is the association management company for the Transportation Marketing & Sales Association. TMSA is experiencing solid growth and we’re looking to take the association to the next level.

The newly created Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) will assist in helping us to make that happen! Do you have what it takes? Here’s what we’re looking for:

Position Description:
The TMSA Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) is responsible for assisting the CEO with developing, executing, communicating, and sustaining strategic initiatives of the organization. Responsible for overall strategic direction of the organization by working closely with the CEO and board of directors to develop the organization’s vision and strategic focus and overseeing implementation of initiatives through committee engagement and staff resources.

  • Responsible for directing and deploying the overall strategic direction as provided by the Board of Directors and in accordance with current bylaws, governance, and contract with MindShare Strategies. Work closely with Senior Partner at MindShare Strategies and the Governance Committee to ensure effective operations within governance guidelines set forth by TMSA.
  • Work closely the Succession Planning Committee to recruit and retain board of directors and committee chairpersons.
  • Work closely with the CEO to effectively engage new and existing Regular and Affiliate members through sponsorships, exhibiting opportunities, other non-dues revenue, and overall member involvement.
  • Strategize with the Education Committee in overseeing strategy and development of educational content (live events and webinars), and work with staff resources to ensure effective execution of educational initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Committee (and deploy appropriate staff resources) to plan and execute integrated marketing and communications activities, including campaign development through content marketing, automation, media relations, print and online advertising, print and digital collateral, social media and website strategy. Deploy resources to ultimately generate new leads for TMSA’s CEO.
  • Collaborate with the Recognition Committee (and deploy appropriate staff resources) to plan and execute recognition programs, including the Compass Awards, Marketing/Sales Executive of the Year, and Volunteer of the Year Awards.
  • Work closely with the Sales Advisory Council to ensure appropriate planning and execution of initiatives that are relevant to sales and business development professionals in the industry.
  • Manage special initiatives authorized by the Board of Directors, such as the TMSA Sales & Marketing Metrics Study.

Required Qualifications:
Seeking an experienced leader, preferably with minimum of 10 years marketing and/or sales experience, a working knowledge of the transportation and logistics industry, and association management. Anticipate workload of this position to average 20 hours per week, plus attending TMSA-sponsored events and board meetings. Can work virtually from any location, competitive compensation for this part-time, long-term contract employment assignment.
